Helen M. Bennett

Ms. Helen M. Bennett was born on October 24, 1929 in Cason, Texas to parents of Captoria and Benjamin Smith.  Helen attended Central Grove School and J. J. Rhodes High School. She worked as an educator for over 31 years. She worked at Lonestar Independent School District and served as the Girls’ Basketball Coach at Central Grove Elementary. She was a devoted member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Mission Board, Pastor’s Aid, Vacation Bible School and sang in the Choir.  She served the Morris County Community as a volunteer at the community center for many years.  

She was preceded in death by her both of her parents, a brother, Charles B. Smith and sisters Lessie B. Gholston and Bobbie L. Doddy.

She is survived by her son, Robert LaDewayne Bennett; brother Clarence (Lilly) C. Smith of Daingerfield; and a host of family and friends.

 Funeral Services for Ms. Helen M. Bennett, 87, of Hughes Springs will be on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m at Shady Grove Baptist Church located in Cason, Texas.

Interment will take place at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rosewood-Premier Funeral Associates.
