Mary Elizabeth Lathan, was born in Panola County, Texas, November 5, 1960, to Clemmie Lathan Jr., and Lay Dell Lathan.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Lay Dell Black; both grandmothers, Annie Lee Davis and Letha Mae Lathan; both grandfathers, Clemmie Lathan Sr. and Money Jackson; five aunts, two uncles and niece, Tameka Lathan Brooks.

Mary attended Beckville High School where she was very athletic and loved all sports. She received her CNA license at Panola College. Mary loved caring for others and worked many years until her health declined.

She attended Hughes Chapel CME Church, under the leadership of Pastor James T. Hall.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories her father, Clemmie Lathan Jr.; three sons, Cedric Lathan, Chester Hicks Jr., Kendric (Irma) Hicks; daughter, Shalonda (Daniel) Hicks Perry; sisters, Diane (Pharron) Rhodes and Shirley (James) Hall; brothers, Glen, Larry, and Lennard[Kim] Lathan; grandchildren, Cedric Lathan II, Adrian, Travorias, Tyshiana, DaKimeon, Lee Lee, Shuan, Shasmine, and Shanyia; five great-grandchildren, two step-children, Karlos and Laternia Watt; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends; Autumn and Katandra.
