Damon Martin Obituary

Damon Ray Martin of Houston, Texas was born to the late Bobby and Gwendolyn Martin on October 21, 1972 in Los Angeles, California. He was raised by his Grandmother Erma Jean Kennedy after his mother passed away. He was known to some as Damon, Ogle B, Black, Dabo, Fetti, DoDo. 

Damon was educated in the California school district until he moved to Texas in 1988. He then went to Kilgore High School and graduated in 1990. Upon graduation Damon furthered his education at Prairie View A & M in Prairie View, Tx majoring in communications. Damon moved to Houston in 1993 to become part of the music artist world. If you knew Damon, you knew he had a great passion for music his first CD to drop was "Cadillac Sunday". Damon was a promoter and sports card trader. He was a loving son, father, brother, and friend. He would leave you with a smile on your face and a song in your heart. 

Damon was a member of the Corinth Christian Church in Kilgore, Texas. He loved God with all of his heart. In 2007 Damon married the love of his life Gloria Earl. If you knew Damon, you knew Gloria was his heart. She was the wife Damon always dreamed of having in his life. 

On Tuesday, September 2, 2020 at Houston Healthcare West Hospital, Damon answered the Master's call and moved from his earthly home to his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his father Bobby Martin, mother Gwendolyn Kennedy Martin, Grandfather William Kennedy, Grandmother Erma Jean Kennedy, and son Damani Malik Martin. 

He leaves to cherish his memories, wife Gloria of Houston, Tx, son Khayree of Houston, Tx; siblings Rachelle Martin-Smith (Roderick) of Kilgore, Tx, Tamika Green (Kendrick) of Garland, Tx, Danielle Thompson- Brown(Michael) of Kilgore, Texas,; 2 Great Aunts Mae Brown and Rutha Bowers; 1 Aunt Carolyn Kennedy Traylor; 1 Cousin/Aunt Lydia Witcher; 10 nieces and nephews ­Krystal, Kamille, Tanija, Kennede, Kayla, Tylen, Skilar, Kylee, Ariel and Ari; special cousins Fred, Yemaya, Maisha, Derrick, Tracy, Pat, and Tangela ; bonus siblings , Ashley Thompson of Dallas, Tx and Brandon Thompson of Los Angeles, Calif.; Carla, Cynthia, Carmen; and Clarence Dorsey all of California; and a special God sister La’Joyce Thompson and a host of cousins and friends.
