Anderson Matthew Lynn

On December 22, 1940, Anderson Matthew Lynn was born the eighth child out of nine to Sammie D.
Lynn and Bobby Lynn. He was truly special, because he touched so many lives with his presence;
especially his family, friends, the communities of Long Pine, TX; and where he later resided Lake O’ the
Pines, Texas. He was known to most as “Skinny”; to others as “Red;” and as “Skintight” to his family
when he was young. He was admired later with even another name by his grand-daughters, grandsons,
great-granddaughters, and great-grandsons who affectionately called him “Grandfather” and “Papaw”.
He deeply loved and treasured all of them.

He was baptized at an early age, and became a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church-Long Pine, Texas
under the leadership of Pastor T.E. George. Later he moved to the Lake O’ the Pines and chose to
fellowship with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of the senior pastors there.
Anderson attended his early years of school in Zion Hill Community; and later attended Bruce High
School where he graduated; and during that time, he established great friendships with his wonderful
classmates.

He met and married Barbara Ann Anderson (Lynn) and remained happily married for 53 years. To this
union they had two of the most wonderful and precious gifts: His son, DeMarco Anderson Lynn, and
daughter, Patricia LeAnn Lynn Castleberry.

He worked for Shippers Car Line, Longview, TX for several years; later working for T&N Railroad in Lone
Star, Texas for many years; and finally ending his career at Barfield Enterprises in Hughes Springs, Texas.
He worked odd jobs and performed many other tasks during his retirement years.

He lived a full and happy life. Baseball was his favorite sport; along with football and fishing. He was a
connoisseur in the field of barbequing; and many people will always remember this special gift that he
shared with anyone and everyone who loved delicious barbeque. He shared his life and love in a special
way. He loved for others to enjoy the food that he prepared. It gave him great joy to see others eating
and having fun. He was a peculiar man in so many ways. He always had a smile on his face, never
complained, and was always willing to help others in any way he possibly could. He was a family man
and truly loved all of his siblings, his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Many can agree he enjoyed
life; especially when it included gathering with family and friends. Love is who he was. He loved deeply,
and was loved and dedicated to his entire family.

He mourned the loss of his father- Bobby Lynn, mother- Sammie D. Lynn; six brothers: Joseph, Jonathan,
David, Isaac, Jacob, and John, one sister- Bobbie Ruth Lynn; an amazing daughter-in-law-Beverly G. Lynn;
a great-grandson-Tykeelin E. Frazier, and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

Those remaining to cherish his memory and long for him to be here are his faithful wife, Mrs. Barbara
Ann Anderson Lynn; son-DeMarco Anderson Lynn (Dallas, TX), daughter-Patricia LeAnn Lynn Castleberry
(Christopher Castleberry, Sr.) (Dangerfield, TX); grandsons-Rashad Lynn Sr. (Lake O’ the Pines, TX),
DeAndre Lynn (Lake O’the Pines, TX), Bobby Nelson (Dallas, TX); grand-daughters-Gaybrielle Lynn (Tyler,
TX), Rebecca Nelson (Ft. Worth, TX); four great-grandchildren; one sister-Icer Ruth Lynn (Longview, TX);
sister-in-law’s: Annie Lynn, Betty Lynn, Mary Lynn, Linda Lynn; Betty Hicks, Alice Montgomery
(Raymond), Lillie Johnson, Claudine Jackson, Earnestine Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews,
relatives, and friends.
